Infant/Junior Applications (First Admission to Primary/Junior School)

The infant/junior coordinated rounds open in early November. This means, if your child is due to join a primary school for the first time, or move from an infant school to a junior school for the first time, you can apply via this process. The closing date for applications is 15th January each year. To view more details, dates and arrangements, visit www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/startingprimary
Waterside Primary Academy is not due to open in September 2025/2026 as previously suggested and so are not taking applications for admission for 2025/2026.

Secondary Applications (First Admission to Secondary School)

The secondary coordinated rounds open in early September. This means, if your child has just entered Year 6 (unless educated out of chronological age) and is due to join a secondary school for the first time, you can apply via this process. The closing date for applications is 31st October each year. To view more details, dates and arrangements, visit www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/startingsecondary.

In-Year Applications (Transfer Applications or New to Nottingham)

For parents/carers wishing to apply for an in-year school place during the academic year, please carefully read the guidance notes in the "Going to School in Nottingham" booklet before completing this application. The booklet can be viewed at www.nottinghamcity.gov.uk/admissionarrangements
For in-year transfer applications, we aim to process them within 15 school days. Please DO NOT contact us before the 15 school day period for a decision on your application. Ensure you provide information if your child has medical needs or disability that can only be met at certain schools and if your child has been out of education for more than one month or if your child is at risk of exclusion.

IMPORTANT:

If you are applying for a school place to begin in September, your application will not begin being considered until after the May half term. This means outcomes will be likely to be issued by the middle of June. Any application received after May half term will be considered for September due to the proximity of the summer holidays.

To apply for the following schools or for schools in another authority, please contact the school directly: Bluecoat Aspley Academy, Bluecoat Wollaton Academy, Bluecoat Beechdale Academy, Bluecoat Trent, Bluecoat Bentinck, Djanogly City Academy, Ellis Guilford Academy, Farnborough Academy, Emmanuel School, Hogarth Academy, Nottingham Academy, St Margaret Clitherow, Sycamore Academy or Trinity Catholic School.
